What Is Invisalign?

The Invisalign System is an alternative treatment to braces that uses a fundamentally different technique to move the teeth. Instead of metal wires and brackets mounted on the front of teeth, Invisalign uses clear, removable plastic trays called aligners that sit directly on the dental arch. Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible when worn and easy to pop in and out for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

How Does Invisalign Treatment Work?

Invisalign treatment is very similar to the process with braces or any other orthodontic treatment, with a few changes. For most patients, Invisalign treatment goes something like this:

• Your Initial Visit: During your first visit with us, we'll perform a comprehensive evaluation of your orthodontic situation. We'll make a thorough diagnosis, and if we decide you're a candidate for Invisalign, we'll move ahead with treatment.
• Planning Your Invisalign Treatment: Based on our diagnostic information, we'll construct a detailed, 3D computer model of your bite. We'll use the model to create a step-by-step treatment plan and break it into 2-week segments.
• Your Custom-Manufactured Aligners: Based on the plan, we'll have your set of custom Invisalign aligners manufactured to fit your mouth – as many as 48 or as few as 12 pairs.
• Treatment: You'll wear each set of aligners 22 hours a day for 2 weeks before switching to the next, and with each new set of aligners, your teeth will move closer to their final positions. When you finish with your last aligner, your beautiful new smile is yours to keep!

Furthermore, we can make aligners with "eruption tabs" that hold space open for unerupted teeth, allowing us to treat patients even when not all teeth have fully grown in. Invisalign Teen treatment also comes with 6 replacement aligners free of charge, so if any get lost or broken, you've got nothing to worry about.
