Metal Braces
Metal braces are a tried and true orthodontic treatment. Metal braces consist of a series of wires, brackets, and bands that work together to gently move the teeth into alignment. Dr. Scott uses special space-age wires that are designed to move the teeth faster but with less discomfort for the patient than traditional metal braces.
Ceramic Braces
For patients who want a more discreet option, we also offer ceramic braces. Like metal braces, ceramic braces are made up of wires, brackets, and bands. However, the brackets and bands are clear instead of silver. As with metal braces, Dr. Scott uses space-age wires to deliver more efficient and comfortable treatment.
Clear Aligners
Invisalign® is another discreet alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to gently shift the teeth into alignment over a period of 12 to 18 months. For qualifying patients who want a more discreet, removable, and comfortable orthodontic option, Invisalign from our Invisalign Elite Provider can be a great solution.

Jaw Surgery
Patients with severe cases of misalignment may need surgery in order to complete their treatment. Our orthodontist can refer you to an oral surgeon for jaw surgery if needed. Jaw surgery can provide a good foundation for your orthodontic treatment. It can also help you eat, speak, and sleep without any discomfort or issues. Dr. Scott will only recommend surgery if less invasive solutions won't work.

What Orthodontics Treatment Is Right For My Kids?
It can be difficult to know when the right time for orthodontic treatment is for kids. With baby teeth falling out and adult teeth growing in, the timeline for treatment can become blurred. We clear the fog and confusion for you by offering free evaluations of your child's teeth. We start observing pediatric smiles as early as age 7 to start correcting any misalignment that may emerge early on in their dental growth.
Even if we don't think your child is in need of orthodontic treatment at their first observation, we recommend you come back to our practice every 8 months for a follow-up observation, as your child's teeth can change rapidly in these early years. These are some of the orthodontic options we may suggest for your child:
If Dr. Scott suspects that your child won't have enough space for their incoming adult teeth, he may suggest a Schwarz appliance or expander. These removable or permanent appliances gradually help expand the upper or lower arch of teeth to set the stage for the adult teeth to grow in with sufficient room.
Once your child's baby teeth have fallen out and the expander has opened their upper or lower arch to accept more adult teeth, we can begin orthodontic treatment, if needed. Braces are a great option for children and teens because they're a permanent fixture, unlike Invisalign, which takes more responsibility and commitment to treatment.
Invisalign treatment requires the patient's commitment to wearing their aligners for 18-22 hours a day. For most children, this is an unrealistic goal, which is why we suggest traditional braces to our pediatric patients. However, we will start Invisalign treatment for patients 12 and up if the parent approves of their child's ability to accept the responsibility.
